Thursday, 25 October 2012 17:25

We've just published a review on the Lexar JumpDrive S73 16GB, with a  rated speed of 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write ... will it reign supreme among USB3 flashdrives? We'll see.

LexS73-box-front_585_419_90

"Lexar has put out a product that does exactly what it says it can, I like that. The marketing says 45MB/s read and 20MB/s write and that's what we get. ... the build quality is good, the drive doesn't flex at all and the detents at the end of the slide mean business, this is good."

Logitech Announces Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 Print E-mail
Posted by Will Smith
Tuesday, 16 October 2012 00:43

Logitech does make nice keyboards and mice ... and the Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is no different. It looks great and I'm sure the build quality is excellent. I really like it!

"It will be released in the U.S. in October and Europe in November for $99.99 USD. Logitech is close to releasing a new illuminated keyboard that will allow you to connect multiple devices to it.

The
Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is an upcoming addition to the PC accessory company's keyboard lineup. It allows consumers to connect their smartphone, tablet or PC to it all at one time, and switch between each device with the push of a button.

What's better is that it's compatible with Windows, iOS and Android devices. It's even set up for Windows 8, which will be released on October 26. For instance, consumers can use the keyboard's Windows 8 Start key to make their way back to the Start screen, or the App Switching function helps switch between applications much easier.

The Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is thin and USB rechargeable, meaning consumers can use the keyboard even when it's charging via the USB cable. It also has an On/Off switch, a battery indicator light and auto-adjusting illumination. According to Logitech, the keyboard has proximity detection that turns on the lighting when a user's hands are aproaching it, and it dims/brightens depending on the amount of light in the room. "

ARCTIC Audio Relay Wireless Media Extender Print E-mail
Posted by Winston
Saturday, 13 October 2012 21:54

We've just published a review on the ARCTIC Audio Relay Wireless Media Extender. It's a wireless (or wired) device that allows you to link up with your computer or computers on your network and use them to play music on your music system. But it gets better, if you have an android or iOS device you can use it as a remote control for the sound system as well!

P1014515

"The idea for this device is simply awesome. You can access your music from your computers in another room on a home theatre system. But it is limited at the moment by a lack of proper software and if those issues could be fixed it would be an amazing product."

Intel to try out wireless charging technology in ultrabooks and smartphones Print E-mail
Posted by Will Smith
Thursday, 09 August 2012 04:15

Now this would be really cool ... wireless charging of notebooks and mobile phones! Go Intel!

"Intel may adopt its self-developed wireless charging technology into Intel-based ultrabooks and smartphones in the second half of 2013, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

In addition to Intel, there are already several smartphone players and telecom carriers aggressively developing wireless charging technology. Japan-based NTT Docomo and Sharp both previously launched smartphones with wireless charging functions that meet the Wireless Power Consortium's (WPS) Qi standard, but high prices are still creating barriers that distance consumers, the sources noted."

Friday, 20 July 2012 02:18

Fluorescent lighting have been around for quite some time ... one can argue that it's pobably one of the earliest forms of energy saving lighting you can get. But, the life-span of a typical fluorescent lamp or tube is only average, plus there are some environmental risks with heavy metals such as Mercury, during its production and disposal.

What's the alternative? Well, thanks to Photonics Ltd. they've introduced the first ever LED light tube that can replace most fluorescent tubing. Meet the Master T8 LED Light Tube. It can give you energy savings of more than 60% compared to fluorescent lamps, with no damaging chemicals or heavy metals that could harm the environment.

Photonics Ltd - A19 LED Light Bulb Print E-mail

Thursday, 19 July 2012 08:17

As we enter the 21st century ... green products such as LED lighting and other energy saving hardware are getting more and more prominent. To save our planet, our environment and and its resources, being green is vital for our future. Every little helps. If we can save a few watts per day ... it can make a huge difference in the overall energy consumption of a household, saving you thousands of dollars a year, with the added bonus that you're doing your bit for the environment.

Over the past few years, I've seen hundreds of new manufacturers promoting their "green" credentials. But what do they produce? ... and are they any good? This month we turn our attention to Photonics Ltd. a company that specialise in LED products.

a19_2

"Photonics Ltd. is a manufacturing company that specialise in LED products. We have offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia and are looking at developing offices into other countries. Our factory is based in China, as you can appreciate the main reason for our factory being based in there is because producing a product there is more cost effective. When producing our products we use high quality materials to produce an LED product at a cost effective way so that in the end we can offer our customers a quality product at a competitive price.

We have provided LED products for over 5 years and so far we have NOT had any returns or problems with our products. This is why we are confident in our products as, not only has the product been tried and tested, but we have actual costumers globally who are happy with the product(s), as the product has done what we have said it would do."
