That's right guys ... We had a DDoS attack over the weekend. Apparently it originated from Cambodia. For those who don't know what DDoD is go here.
Luckily, there doesn't seem to be any major damage, but our ISP and network gurus are looking into it and will probably block the entire subnet from Cambodia.
Please report anything suspicious and send a posted message on our Facebook page here.

This subject has been playing on my mind for some time now ... and it's really bugging now. A few years back, when Apple released their iPhone 3G .. I waited for a while, as I know it still had some bugs, plus there were some reports of the iPhone 3G being real slow. Eventually when Apple released the iPhone 3GS ... I decided to go for it. And I have to say, I was pretty pleased with it.
Now, I knew it wasn't long before Apple would release the iPhone 4 (usually within 12-18 months)... any how, I wasn't too bothered as the iPhone 3GS was more than capable to satisfy all my needs. The good thing was, I'm glad I didn't rush to get the iPhone 4 as there were NO real significant improvements over the iPhone 3GS.

As you know the iPhone 4S was just released ... October, 2011. And although there was no real significant improvements over the iPhone 4, it is a much superior phone over the iPhone 3GS. So, that said ... I've decided to go for it. Apple ... you best be good to me, or I'll kick your ass!! LOL!
The moral of the story ... if you're under contract, it's best to skip a generation. No point chasing the latest release.

A scheduled server maintenance will be conducted this coming weekend - 12th/13th August 2011. Expect some downtime of around 2-3 hours during our upgrades, so please be patient. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

This upgrade is due to the fact that we have grown beyond our expectations and we need more powerful servers to cope with the amount of increased traffic. Thanks to all our visitors, forum members and especially our sponsors.

How embarrassing ... Well at least you can say Micro$oft is a safe bet to put your money on ;)
"Microsoft now has a higher credit rating than the U.S. government, since its downgrading late last week. For the first time in its history, the United States last week lost its AAA credit rating from Standard and Poor, an internationally recognised credit rating organisation.
The U.S. government’s ability to handle the recent threat to default is one of many reasons why the credit agency lowered its rating to AA+, putting the United States below the United Kingdom, Germany, France and sixteen other countries.
Yet, Microsoft is one of four U.S. based companies which still holds onto its AAA rating, with the exception of some financial and government institutions, despite the government’s lack of ability in holding onto its own."

It's that time of the year, when we can forget about our worries for one day (at least) and enjoy the celebrations. Happy holidays !! I've just spoken to our Funky Kit team ... and we've got plenty lined up for you guys over the next few weeks. Bobnova has been busy with some chassis and CPU heatsink reviews, while Kow_Ciller is all tied-up with some "Steelseries" gear.

What's more our European editor, Erkan has made some progress with some new manufacturers. It's been a crazy few weeks for us ... especially with the server migration amongst other things, now let's bring on the rest of the year !! ;)

Don't mess with this Granny, she'll literally cut you off! ... from the internet. It amazes me how some countries just have one internet cable going into the country.
"A 75-year-old Georgian woman who says she has never even heard of the internet is facing a possible prison sentence for single-handedly cutting off the web to an entire country.
Georgian police arrested Hayastan Shakarian after she allegedly hacked through a fibre optic cable that runs through Georgia to Armenia, while digging for copper. With one stroke, the pensioner plunged 90% of internet users in Armenia into online darkness for nearly 12 hours."
