This week I've moved back to my roots in Tai Po ... however, I didn't have time to apply for cable internet or otherwise. So what do I do? As an emergency measure I decided to do a bit of internet tethering using my iPhone 3GS. Now you might think ... OMG! it's going to cost an arm and a leg! Well, before I hooked up my iPhone 3GS, I checked with my service provider to see if there was any extra charges. Amazingly the plan I subscribe to, actually included internet tethering with unlimited data !! (but I think it's limited to 1Gb to be honest).
On your iPhone 3Gs, go to ... Settings > General > Network > Internet Tethering [On/Off] Well, I'm not going to e downloading movies or mp3s ... so it should be fine, plus I can now boast to my friends about internet tethering using my iPhone 3GS. The speeds are ok ... I roughly get 2-3mbps (thats megabits per second), which is equivalent to a 2Mb line. That's plenty for editing my stories, blogs, articles and uploading photos using my little netbook :) So there you go ... internet tethering has its benefits. I can hook up to the internet without fixed line, as long as I have a 3G signal on my iPhone.{jcomments on} |
