In continuation of ZOTAC’s 10th Anniversary celebration, ZOTAC was kind enough to organized a factory tour in Dongguan, China. International press from around the world were invited to join, including FUNKYKIT.
If you didn’t know already, PC Partner Ltd is the parent and holding company of ZOTAC. And this factory is where all your ZOTAC graphic cards are made 😊.
Here’s a little blurb about their 10th Anniversary Event the taken from Zotac.
To commemorate 10 years of ZOTAC excellence, a series of online events will be hosted at www.zotac.com/10th from September 21 to the end of November. These online events will be a part of the celebrations, and an opportunity for ZOTAC to appreciate users with giveaway prizes provided by ZOTAC and other sponsors. These online events will provide ZOTAC users the opportunity to win fabulous products, and it is ZOTAC’s way of appreciating our customers’ support and giving back to the community.
The second part of the celebrations is a multi-part event hosted in Hong Kong with a product unveiling press conference and ZOTAC 10th Anniversary Invitational Tournament featuring competitive cup games. The Invitational also celebrates the long-running ZOTAC CUP, which has been part of the eSports community for nearly 10 years.
The Factory Tour 2016
After our arrival, we were given a quick introduction about PC Partner Ltd, its history and its factories. We were then given anti-static clothing and a quick security check before entering the factory production floor.
The SMT production line – Where the life of the graphic cards begin
The first photo shows Zotac’s real-time monitoring system of each stage of production. If there’s a problem, it will alert the system. At each stage of the SMT (surface mount technology) production, the PCB and boards go through a vigorous inspection check. The reels of tape that you see above, are actually lined with components which the SMT machine mounts onto the PCB board.
Final test and error checking
Once the graphic cards are assembled, theye are passed to the testing area where it goes through various graphics tests and BIOS checking. If it passes … it continues down the production line. For cards that have failed the test, they are passed to another engineer who then checks for errors.
Final check and packing for shipment
During our factory tour, Zotac were producing the GTX 1060 and recently announced GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. These cards were checked on final time, then packed and ready to ship!
In our next page, we will show you where ZOTAC test their engineering samples and pre-production cards before full SMT production.
