One of the most essential tools for iPhone users - EVER?

Since giving my iPhone 3GS to my wife, I decided to go cold turkey for a while and revert back to my regular old Nokia phone. I'm going to wait for a while before dipping into the market for a new Android smartphone :)

However, there's a problem ... I've been using my iPhone 3GS for little over a year and a half, and all my contacts were on phone. But the thing is ... I've deleted all the information on the iPhone 3GS before giving it to my wife ... Ooopps!

Luckily, I've made a backup of my iPhone 3GS on iTunes the night before. But how do I access my contacts? ...

In this a short article, we will show you how to extract your contacts (and other data) from iPhone or iTunes backup. Of course, this will work for ALL iPhones or any other iOS devices too.

Firstly, you need to download ibackupbot for iTunes. It's a free shareware which allows to access your iPhone or iTunes backup. Install and follow the instructions as below.

contacts_backup1

Click the icon "View iPhone Contacts"

contacts_backup2

Your contact list should appear ... Click on the "Export to" icon as indicated by the red arrow.

Another window will appear with 3 options. Select your preference and click OK.

contacts_backup3

You can also access your messages, notes, call history, recent email address and even your media files (except for your MP3s)

No more screenshots ... as some of the above are very personal. BUT the instructions are very simple.

The latest version now supports iOS5 ... Download the latest version here ... ibackupbot
