What does that mean? ... Limited iPhone 5 on launch date? "Shipments of Apple's iPhones may drop to 25 million units in the third quarter of 2012 if Apple decides to delay the launch of its next-generation iPhone to October, the Chinese-language Liberty Times quoted Jefferies Equity Research as indicating. Apple's supply chain will be able to roll out only 10 million new iPhones by the end of August and add another 5-7 million units in the first three weeks of September, the paper quoted Jefferies as saying. In other words, if Apple decides to launch the iPhone 5 in September, the vendor will be able to ship a total of 39 million iPhones in the third quarter, including 15-17 million iPhone 5s.
A delayed launch to October will push down total iPhone shipments to 25 million units in the third quarter compared to 29 million units shipped in the second quarter, Jefferies estimated." Source: Digitimes |
