HP rolls out Z-series workstations

Now this is a bit of fresh air … we finally see HP return to what they’re good at … making PCs and Workstations. HP have recently launched thier Z-series workstations in Taiwan, powered by Intel’s new Xeon processors.

“Hewlett-Packard (HP) recently launched its Z-series workstations in Taiwan, featuring an industrial design similar to an ultrabook and the products are expected to benefit suppliers Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) and Inventec, according to some market watchers.

Commenting on the company’s workstation business, president of HP Taiwan’s PPS business group Richard Hu pointed out that HP currently has a 65% share in Taiwan’s workstation market, leading Dell the second largest. Professional photography firms, animation studios and product R&D companies are major clients of HP’s workstation business. In the worldwide workstation market, HP is also the largest with about 50% market share. HP also revealed that Z-series products are designed by its R&D center in Taiwan and the 14-inch model only weighs 1.62kg.”
