Press Release: ARM and TSMC Tape Out First ARM Cortex-A57 Processor on TSMC's 16nm FinFET Technology
Hsinchu, Taiwan and Cambridge, UK – April 2, 2013 – ARM and TSMC (TWSE: 2330, NYSE: TSM) today announced the first tape-out of an ARM® Cortex™-A57 processor on FinFET process technology. The Cortex-A57 processor is ARM's highest performing processor, designed to further extend the capabilities of future mobile and enterprise computing, including compute intensive applications such as high-end computer, tablet and server products.

This is the first milestone in the collaboration between ARM and TSMC to jointly optimize the 64-bit ARMv8 processor series on TSMC FinFET process technologies. The two companies cooperated in the implementation from RTL to tape-out in six months using ARM Artisan® physical IP, TSMC memory macros, and EDA technologies enabled by TSMC's Open Innovation Platform® (OIP) design ecosystem.

We've just published a review on the Evercool Venti HPQ-12025 CPU Cooler. Like I'v always said ... Not all CPU coolers are created the same. Evercool tries to impress our guys, but fail to do so. Still, the Evercool Venti-Series HPQ-12025 CPU Cooler is good for users on a budget (I suppose). Here's a snip ...
"Well, I'm sorry to say, but I'm a bit underwhelmed with this one. For all the marketing hype that companies assign to their products, I can't help but feel this is a bit misplaced."

Expect to see new ULV chips for ultrabooks, tablets and mobile devices ... I can see Intel continuing their support for the enthusiast market for overclocking and next-gen caming. All-in-all, 2013 should be an interesting year ...
"Intel's annual IDF in Beijing, China, will be held from April 10-11 and hosted by Ian Yang, president of Intel China. Top company executives such as senior vice president Kirk Skaugen, vice president Hermann Eul and CTO Justin Rattner will give speeches about the latest platform products and business developments in China.

Beijing IDF will promote computing technology, chip manufacturing, application experience, end market conditions, and cloud intelligence.
China became the world's largest PC market in 2011 and growth continued in 2012. In addition, for the past five years, the server market in China grew at rates above the global average and has become the world's second-largest data center market. According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China is the world's largest handset market with more than one billion users. Intel has been developing the China market for years and has been aggressive in cooperating with local governments and schools on R&D."

Featuring 768 CUDA cores ... Nvidia's latest release, the Geforce GTX 650Ti BOOST should give gamers that extra "boost" ... Though I think their stalling and struggling to release anything decent (consoles and mobile chips are straining their resources). AMD on the other hand will be releasing their next-gen HD 8000 series soon.
"Nvidia has introduced its new GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost GPU. Based on the Nvidia Kepler architecture and equipped with 768 CUDA cores, the GTX 650 Ti Boost GPU is available in 2GB and 1GB configurations at an estimated US$169 and US$149, respectively.

With up to 40% more performance over the original GeForce GTX 650 Ti GPU introduced last year, the new GeForce GTX 650 Ti boost features support for Nvidia's GPU Boost technology, which dynamically adjusts GPU performance to meet the graphics processing demands of games, and Nvidia SLI technology, which allows gamers to use multiple GPUs to double performance, the company noted.
With a wider 192-bit memory interface and up to 60% more memory bandwidth than the original, the GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost GPU is able to support resolutions up to 1080p."

A fast GPU running at 1Ghz ... a nice performer against the Geforce GTX 650Ti
"Today brought a new desktop GPU product announcement from AMD -- the Radeon HD 7790, the first Bonaire chip GPU, a member of the new Sea Islands family. The new 7000 series launch is mostly about filling in the gaps in AMD's aging product lineup. Namely, the GPU falls roughly between the Radeon HD 7850 and the Radeon HD 7770 in performance -- a gap where NVIDIA's GK106-powered GeForce GTX 650 Ti currently lurks.

Manufactured on the same Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Comp., Ltd. (TPE:2330) 28 nm process, the device packs the same 1 GHz core clock, but 40 percent more shader cores than the Radeon HD 7770, thanks to its 500M extra transistors. "
