Intel plans to release the Z68 chipset in May ... which means manufacturers will be sampling Z68 based motherboards at the end of April or beginning of May. The Intel Z68 is classed as an "enthusiast chipset" aimed at high-end and performance users, as well as hardcore overclockers and extreme enthusiasts. No doubt, Funky Kit will be getting samples from Asus, MSI and Gigabyte over the coming months ... so stay tuned.
"Intel will release its Z68 chipsets in the first half of May, with Gigabyte Technology likely to be the first major motherboard maker to launch Z68-based products as soon as its embargo expires. Gigabyte's offerings will include its top-end GA-Z68X-UD7-B3 model. Motherboard makers have also reportedly been informed that Intel will gradually phase out the production of its P-series chipset solutions and instead will focus on Z- and H-series lineups."
