| eBay and Paypal Could Boost e-Retailing |

Yes, well, that was probably obvious. More and more people are opening up Paypal and eBay accounts and making money through buying and selling things that people are looking for. And now some of the major retailers are thinking about following suit. So in the next couple years, you might start seeing name-brand merchandise.
John J. Donahoe, chief executive of eBay, described the first-quarter results as “a strong start of the year.” EBay reported Wednesday that net income in the first quarter rose 20 percent to $570 million, or 44 cents a share, from the same quarter a year earlier. The company said revenue climbed 29 percent to $3.3 billion. The company’s chief executive, John J. Donahoe, who has been trying to effect a turnaround at the company for several years, described the numbers as “a strong start of the year” and hinted at the need to do more with mobile devices to compete with rivals like Amazon and Google."
