While HP is retracting and refining its business ... others like Dell are expanding. "To lower costs, HP has merged two departments, Personal Systems Group (PSG) and Imaging and Printing Group (IPG), into one group called Printing and Personal Systems (PPS). Richard Hu, the current president of the IPG department, is expected to take over operations of the PPS group. The new department will further be divided into three sub-sections,- end market products, retail channel, and enterprise. HP has been rumored to be planning to lay off 8,000 and 9,000 employees in Europe and the US respectively. The firm said that there have been no plans to decrease staff. Employees of the two merging departments will be reassigned to new posts without making significant changes to the number of staff, according to the firm. Currently, HP employs about 800-900 workers in Taiwan." Source: Digitimes Tags: |
