Twitter Outdoes Facebook in Mobile Marketing Revenue Print E-mail

If there's one thing that keeps social media networks going, it's advertisements.  Now it may sound counterintuitive, what with everything you read about spam and phishing services, but not all ads are worthless and devoid of merit; in fact, there are a great many uses to get out of ads and the clients they serve.  Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Digg, and etc, all use various forms of advertisement to rake in extra profits in order to pay for all the services that they provide to you that all of us often take for granted.  That's not to say that all the services are necessary, but the ability to communicate with people from all around is a luxury that I think is worth preserving.

It goes without saying that if you're in business, you're in direct/indirect competition with a multitude of other services, and it's not easy to fight your way to the top.  And it's often much harder to stay on top.  At first, MySpace was the top dog in social media; then Facebook climbed the mountain of success and appears to have been holding the crown for a long time now not only for number of users, but also for profit gained from advertisements and partnerships.  Now, however, with the exploding rate at which social networks evolve, and the fact that we can access a great deal of the internet on our phones, Facebook has an even greater challenge and challenger.  It's now clear who is winning the battle for ad revenue, with Twitter beating out Facebook's $72 million with their $129 million.  But that's not the entire story.  While Twitter does have the advantage for now, speculators are predicting that Facebook will come back next year and reclaim the throne.
