Today, we’ll be taking a quick look at the ORICO GV100 Mini M.2 Portable NVMe SSD. It’s a portable M.2 SSD that offers ultra-fast data transfer speeds of up to 940MB/s, with a superspeed throughput of 10Gbps. It’s perfect for transferring large-sized data including 4K videos, high-resolution photos, games, film, music, data backup and more. Our review sample comes with a total capacity of 512GB of 3D NAND flash TLC memory. It’s super thin at only 9.9mm thick and extremely light-weight, weighing in at just 22g. This portable SSD also feature a nice and sleek looking aluminum blue enclosure, and a circular-shaped design that makes it easy to take anywhere. You can fit it on a keychain or backpack, and never have to worry about losing it.
We’re now seeing more and more portable SSDs over traditional mechanical portable drives. And the reason for this, is that portal SSDs are much faster speeds and light-weight. If fact, the newer portal SSDs, using the M.2 form factor are even more compact, light-weight and faster (using USB 3.1 Gen2 or higher)… such as the ORICO GV100 Mini M.2 Portable NVMe SSD that we are reviewing here.
Confused and NAND flash memory? Well, there are several types of NAND flash memory used in most of today’s SSDs. The two most popular are SLC and MLC, and now TLC. Here’s a little background taken from HowToGeek.
