Minecraft has been a revelation and popularity of the game knows no bounds. The Minecraft community has gone from strength to strength, however if you want something a little different – here are some games to try.
Block Story: Basic Version Free, Full Version $1.99
What do you get when you combine MineCraft and RPG elements? Well, what you get is Block Story. You can level up your character as you complete quests and play through an engaging, well written story mode. Just like in MineCraft online, though, the building, graphics, and crafting elements are highly engaging and fun. Even after you complete the part of the story that takes place in a certain area, you can continue the story forever by completing more quests and tasks in those areas and regions in order to gain more building components to aid you in your future quests. The only complaints out there about Block Story are about some bugs and glitches, but they aren’t big enough or game breaking, and most people report that the game is highly enjoyable.
MonsterCrafter: Free with In-App Purchases
Having been developed by the same studio as the one that’s behind GunCrafter, MonsterCrafter naturally shares many of the same elements. Using a system based on MineCraft, you can develop, design, build, and battle with your own specially created monsters. Just as is the case in GunCrafter, you use specially selected materials to construct your monster, which will affect how strong the monster is in the end based on your choices during creation. Once you think you have a monster that’s top notch, you can enter the match making mode and battle with other players and their monsters. One of the coolest things about MonsterCrafter is that every monster you battle in either single or multi player was created by another player just like you – and your monsters can even show up in other people’s games as a result, if they’re strong enough.
The Blockheads: Free with In-App Purchases
If you like MineCraft, but you’re also a fan of the platforming genre of games, then the unique 2D and 3D gameplay mix that The Blockheads offers might be just the thing for you. In this fascinating game, you play as a blockhead, and have to build a shelter each day to avoid freezing to death at night. The 2D platformer gameplay is a fresh twist on the collecting and building aspects of MineCraft gameplay, but many elements will be familiar otherwise.
When it comes to games like MineCraft, Delver is one of the highest rated alternatives around. You can collect valuable loot and potions and increase in level while fighting monsters in a wide variety of first person dungeon crawls. Like many new games, Delver puts an RPG spin on the MineCraft experience, but it performs this combination much better than many other games out there. Despite lacking the building and mining elements of the traditional MineCraft experience, but the graphical style, mechanics, and sandbox play elements will be very familiar to MineCraft players.
