UFO Screen Refresh Rate Test
We used the infamous UFO refresh rate test. The MSI MPG 322URX fully passed its stated refresh rate of 240Hz at 4K.
Adaptive Sync Support
If you want to enable AMD FreeSync, be sure you go to your settings in the Radeon Software Adrenalin, and enable the Adaptive Sync option.
G-Sync Support
You can enable G-Sync via the GeForce drivers. See below. Odd;y, although the monitor is G-Sync Ready, for some reason it states that it’s not validated. Maybe the future GeForce driver releases will fix that.
Verdict and Conclusion
The first ever consumer-grade 4K monitor was released back in 2013 with a street price of around USD $3,500. It used an IGZO (TFT IPS) panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 at 60Hz. It was break-through at that time, but over the next 10 years since its launch not much has changed in terms of price or specs. A vast majority of afforable 4K monitors only offer refresh rates of up to 60Hz, with higher refresh rate models costing more than double or even triple the amount.
Luckily in the past few years, 4K monitors with smaller screen sizes (27″) have come down in price, albeit slowly, with some offering higher refresh rated of up to 180Hz, but at a premium price. And it’s true what they say … the bigger the screen size, the more expensive the monitor. Still, if I was going to invest in a 4K monitor, I would rather get one with a 32″ screen.
You see, to get the best viewing experience at 4K resloution, you really need a monitor with a native screen size of 32″ or higher. There are 27″ 4K monitors available, but I find them too small, and puts a real strain on my eyes.
When MSI asked me if I wanted to take a look at their MPG 322URX QD-OLED 4K 32″ Gaming Monitor, I jumped at the chance. In fact, it was perfect timing … I needed a full blown 4K monitor with a large 32″ screen so I can test all the new and upcoming hardware in 2025.
What makes the MSI MPG 322URX monitor so attractive is that it’s one of the first all-premium QD-OLED gaming monitor featuring DisplayPort 2.1a. (most 4K monitors only support up to DisplayPort 1.4a). This new DisplayPort 2.1a now supports Ultra High Bit-Rate, giving you higher resolution and higher refresh rates through the DisplayPort. It offers an astonishing refresh rate of 240Hz at 4K, with an ultra-fast GTG response time of only 0.03ms
The 32″ panel uses Quantum Dot OLED technology that gives you ultra sharp image quality, and offers a maximum resolution of 3840×2160 (UHD) with a viewing angle of 178°. The monitor also has support for Nvidia’s G-Sync, as well as VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and VESA ClearMR 13,000 standards.
Overall, the image quality is superb, with nice deep blacks and sharp details. With a large screen size of 32″ I don’t have to strain my eyes anymore.
The monitor comes with 1 x DisplayPort 2.1a, 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports, a 3.5mm output jack, 1 x USB-C with DP support and power delivery of up to 98W. If you want to run the monitor at the full 240Hz refresh rate, we highly recommend you use a high quality DisplayPort cable that can support the latest version 2.1a.
The official MSRP of the MSI MPG 322URX QD-OLED 4K 32″ Gaming Monitor is still being decided. But in the meantime, you can buy MSI MPG 321URX (previous model with Displayport 1.4a) for around USD $899 from Amazon – https://amzn.to/408sjl8
Final Words
The MSI MPG 322URX is by far one of the best 32″ 4K gaming monitor we’ve seen. It features a super-thin QD-OLED panel that provides ultra sharp image quality, and offers a stunning refresh rate of 240Hz at 4K through the Displayport, with an ultra-fast GTG response time of only 0.03ms. You won’t find a better 32″ 4K gaming monitor on the market. Period.
