AMD is planning to include a liquid cooling kit with the FX-9000 series instead of a simple air cooler like all other CPUS. This is because of its an 8-core processor with high clock speeds of 4.4 GHz or higher. What results in high temperature output.
“Back in June AMD launched two high-performance 8-core FX Series chips, running at exceptionally high 4.4 and 4.7 GHz clock speeds. The processors were essentially top binned FX-83xx parts, overclocked to 4+ GHz, and overvolted to achieve higher frequencies. Overclocking/overvolting resulted in significantly increased power consumption, which led to AMD’s recommendation to use liquid cooling kit with the CPUs. The first FX-9000 series processors were shipped in OEM PCs, and came with a liquid cooling, but the kit was not included in boxed FD9370FHHKWOF and FD9590FHHKWOF models. As a result, computers enthusiasts had to purchase third-party liquid cooling solutions to complement their expensive FX microprocessors. This may change soon, as AMD plans to sell FX-9000 series CPUs with a liquid kit included.”
