Thanks to Intel and their APAC team … Funky Kit was cordially invited to attend the prestigious Beijing IDF 2011 event. This year it’s being held at the China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing, on the 12th-13th April. We’re hoping to see some exclusive hardware from Intel and their partners. We’ll be expecting to see Intel’s next-gen ATOM processors (Oak Trail and Cedar Trail), as well as some pre-production samples of Intel’s new Ivy Bridge processor and platform, which will be based on Intel’s new 22nm technology.
What is IDF?
For those who are not familiar with IDF, here’s a little blurb taking from their website …

The Venue
The China National Convention Center (CNCC) in Beijing was the venue for the prestigious Beijing IDF 2011 event. The convention center is located near the Olympic Park, where you’ll find the mighty Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium. And let me tell you … it’s quite a sight!

Day 0: Photo Gallery
We start off with some photos of Day 0 … Nothing much happens on Day 0, apart from press/media and VIP registrations, and the usual setting up of equipment by the Intel team. The bulk of the action will be on Day 1. After our registering our press details, we decided to check out the rest of the venue and we found something pretty interesting. See below …

Portable Cloud Computing
I’ve heard of portable or mobile cloud computing … but never really seen it for real, until now. This 40 foot cargo container has been converted into a portable and mobile cloud datacenter for the whole Beijing IDF 2011 event! Check out all the servers, the cooling, the wiring … and if you want to enter the container, you’ll need to take your shoes off!
