Today, we’ll be taking a quick look at the Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 850W Power Supply. It’s aimed at the gaming enthusiast who’s after an affordable power supply that offers RGB without hurting their wallets.
If you’re looking for a technically in-depth review, you won’t find it here. This review is more about the power supply’s features, with simple voltage and power consumption reading during idle and at full load. As I do not have the specialized equipment for PSU testing (which costs thousands of dollars), so the best way I could do test the PSU is by using what we’ve got. My testing method involves comparing the voltage and power consumption reading during idle and at full load. I know it’s not the most accurate method technically, but I think this simple method should provide some ideas of the performance of the power supply in terms of stability and power consumption.
OK, with that said … let’s check out some of the features if the Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 850W Power Supply.
It’s a fully modular power supply that comes with flat cables and features a 140mm RGB Riing fan for cooling. And unlike Thermaltake’s other model, the Toughpower DSP G RGB, it doesn’t require software to control the RGB lighting. There is a physical switch for such a function.
In addition, the Smart Pro RGB 850W Bronze is equipped with a powerful single +12V rail at 70.5A. It also contains high quality Japanese capacitors for extra stability and longevity, as well as being certified 80 Plus Bronze, plus it comes with 7 years warranty.
The Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB now offers a new feature called Smart Zero Fan, which allows silent operation when switched off. Switching it on, will mean that the fan will not operate when the PSU is at low load.
