In a sudden but unsurprising move the gaming giant Electronic Arts has shut down developer Visceral Games. EA has a history of buying and shutting down smaller companies after the fail to turn a large enough profit for EA.
Known primarily for the Dead Space series Visceral Games also made the generally poor received Battlefield Hardline and Dante’s Inferno.
Visceral Games joins gaming studios like Pandemic Studios (original Star Wars Battlefront games) and Maxis (SimCity) in the growing list of studios shutdown by EA.
Visceral Games was working on a Star Wars game code-named “project Ragtag” at the time of closure and according to EA the game is still in development but will be overhauled and made more accessible for the general audience.
