The Steel Legend series of motherboards according to ASRock represents the philosophical state of rock-solid durability and irresistible aesthetics. It’s built around most demanding specs and features, providing high quality components and materials to ensure a stable and reliable performance.
In this review we’ll be taking a quick look at the ASRock B450M Steel Legend Motherboard, which comes in a MATX form factor and utilizes AMD’s B450 suitable for all 1st and 2nd gen AMD Ryzen processors (both 14nm Summit Ridge and 12nm Pinnacle Ridge) on the AM4 socket. This motherboard aimed at the mainstream market, but offers a wealth of features which is quite surprising considering the price.
For starters, it comes with dual M.2 slots for SSDs, 6 x USB 3.1 Gen, 2 x USB 3.1 Gen2 (Type-A + Type-C), PCIE steel slot, Gigabit LAN, Displayport, HDMI and 7.1 CH HD Audio. It also supports memory speeds of up to DDR4-3533+ (OC), AMD Quad CrossFireX, and of course Polychrome RGB.
The Steel Legend series comes with a rich feature-set which includes … 2oz Copper, premium 60A power choke, XXL Aluminium alloy heatsinks, Nichicon 12K black caps, high density glass fabric PCB … yes the motherboard is made from glass fabric!
I would like to thank ASRock for providing the review sample. This is a snippet from what ASRock has to say about themselves on their website:
ASRock Inc. is established in 2002, specialized in the field of motherboards. ASRock strives to build up its own brand. With the 3C design concept, “Creativity, Consideration, Cost-effectiveness”, the company explores the limit of motherboards manufacturing while paying attention on the eco issue at the same time, developing products with the consideration of eco-friendly concept.
ASRock has been growing fast and become world third largest motherboard brand with headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan and branches in Europe and the USA. The young and vibrant company targets from mainstream to enthusiast MB segments for different kinds of users, owning reputation around the world market with its reliability and proficiency.
With a massive list of features for such a compact MATX motherboard can the ASRock B450M Steel Legend really deliver? Well let’s find out …
For testing, we’ll be mounting our Ryzen 5 2600X processor along with 16GB of DDR4-3600 ram, as well as 240GB M.2 SSD from ADATA and a Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 Ti.
So what can we expect from the ASRock B450M Steel Legend? Well, I expecting some decent performance in all of our benchmark tests. Hopefully, it will do justice to all of the above components that we’ll be using.
