The Interview and Conversation
Winston: Hi Roland, nice to meet you.
Roland: Likewise, nice to meet you too. Winston: We never got the chance to meet up at the Computex 2016 in Taiwan … Roland: No worries … I saw all your videos on the Computex event coverage. It was pretty good. You’ve put together a great team. Winston: Thanks Roland. I’d like to talk to you about the recent launch of Intel’s latest Broadwell-E processor. It was announced and launched at Computex 2016 during the HWBOT World Tour event, and it was well received by overclockers and extreme enthusiasts alike. What are your thoughts on the latest Broadwell-E processor. Roland: Yes, the launch of our Intel Broadwell-E processors was a great success. We know it’s what the enthusiasts want, and we know it can overclock really well. Our flagship Core i7-6950X Extreme Edition processor is a remarkable piece of engineering based on the 14nm process. It has 10 cores, 20 threads and 25MB cache … it is the ultimate processor. Winston: Yes, it is … but I heard the price is very steep, costing around USD $1,700 or more. What’s the availability of these processors? Roland: Right now, the availability of these flagship processors are very rare, that’s because they are very special and for this reason, we have set a high price on them. But we also have a selection of mid-range Core-i Series which are also based on the Broadwell-E core … these are much more affordable and attractively priced. I’ll see what I can do to get you guys one. Winston: The next IDF 2016 (Intel Developer Forum) will be held in San Francisco this fall. Are we expecting any new announcements? Roland: You’ll have to wait and see. If you have a team in the US, you can send them to cover the event. Winston: Sure, definitely. With your support, we’ll do our best. While we’re on the topic of events … the Intel Extreme Masters is a big attraction globally. Why is Intel so heavily invested in Esports? Roland: Well, yes … as you know, Intel is a major supporter of Esports, and we’ve been there since the beginning. We see gamers differently. It’s not just about playing games. It’s a culture, and it’s the gamers that help drive this industry. Our high-end products are mostly aimed and targeted at these markets, which we do really well. Winston: Thank you Roland for your insight on Esports and the Intel Extreme Masters. We look forward in covering these events too. And finally, Funky Kit also has its very own event … it’s our special promotional event Mod-My-Box™2016!! Tell us how Intel can help us with this? Roland: Absolutely, we most definitely can help … we’ll do what we can to support you guys. Winston: Thank you Roland for your support on this. It’s going to be an epic event! I think that’s all we have time for … Thanks for meeting with us. We’ll be looking forward to a fruitful partnership, which I’m sure will last for many years to come. Roland: Thank you Winston … the pleasure was mine. Winston: Thank you Roland. |
