Where Google Glass Shall Not Pass!

The innovative Google Glass creation is set to hit the consumer market by next year, but with the highly-anticipated technology comes a new sense of fear.

A number of pre-emptive bans have already been taken out against Google Glass in various locations, over concerns that it could intrude in the privacy of members of the public or put the user’s safety at risk.

Here are just some places that will make you remove your Google Glasses before stepping inside.

Cars

Legislators are concerned that wearing a computer with a head mounted display whilst driving could affect the safety of citizens. West Virginia and Arizona have already banned drivers from wearing Google Glass, with Washington D.C. and 39 other states set to follow. The UK has also set about banning the technology before its 2014 launch.

Hospitals

In an attempt to protect the privacy of patients, some hospitals have stated that people wearing Google Glass upon visits will be made to remove them. This is due to the fact that if any documentation or vital data is snapped by the Google Glass camera, it may leave patients identity vulnerabe to crime.

Casinos

Although it is unclear how Google Glass will affect online casinos, such as MoneyGaming.com, gambling venues have already ruled out the technology. As the recording capabilities could aid in cheating, casinos across Las Vegas and Atlantic City have strictly prohibited the Glasses on site.

Banks

As bank information is highly sensitive, it makes sense for banks to be wary of Google Glass in branches and at ATMs. An individual could easily save images of someones personal information, including their account information and ID. Banks are therefore being precautious in an attempt to protect the security of their customers’ accounts.

Movie theatres

Piracy is already a concern for the film industry, and recording devices are strictly banned from all movie theatres. With the difficulties these venues already face in spotting and cracking down on recording in cinemas, it seems only natural that a camera at eye-level would be something that these venues disallow on their premises. Concert halls and sport venues are also following suit to stop events being illegally recorded.
