Pre-Ordering
I’m a man. When I buy something, I want it now, not the day after or the week after. I definitely do not want to be told that the item I ordered will take 1-4 weeks.
That’s why I hate pre-ordering something.
I was sure when we attended the HK Xiaomi Summer Launch 2016 event last week that Hugo Barra said the new Mi Air Purifier 2 will be released on the Monday just gone. Having had to work on Monday, I breezed into the Mi Store in Mongkok on Tuesday, thoroughly looking to get my grubby hands on one. But no, Hugo lied, or we totally mixed up the dates.
Apparently, the Mi Air Purifier 2 will be available to pre-order from noon on Thursday. Pre-bloody-order.
Pre-ordering means 2 things to me; I can put my name down on one (which means I can do it at any time, and not from a set time), and once my pre-order is ordered, my item will be sent whenever it becomes available in the next decade or so.
You see, this is the reason why consumers like you and me are willing to sometimes pay a little but more to purchase the same items from a reseller, helping to line the pockets of the said resellers.
I just want it the second after I hand over the cash. I can wait of the sales assistant to put it in a bag or tie some strings around the box so its easier for me to carry, but no longer than that.
I’m working on Thursday, by the time I finish work and get to the Mi Store, it’ll be near their closing time, which will also probably mean there’s several thousand names that have pre-ordered, and I’ll probably get mine towards the end of 2017.
