Chassis Preparation
The Thermaltake CTE E660 MX Chassis is a fantastic mid-tower chassis, which we reviewed a while ago. It comes with a 400mm PCIE riser cable included, and allows you to mount your GPU in 3 different configurations. It also has plenty of room for cooling and installing large components including radiators, distroplates and more. It’s perfect for our custom loop PC build.
Motherboard Installation
During our installation, the Gigabyte Z890 AORUS Elite X ICE motherboard fitted nicely inside the Thermaltake CTE 660 MX chassis. There’s plenty of room inside the chassis, so you can really dig your hands in there 😀
PSU Installation
For our PC build, we used the Thermaltake Toughpower GF A3 Hydrangea Blue 1050W power supply, which fitted nicely. The only thing left to do is some cable management.
We had to include the Molex (4-pin) power cable for the pump on the distroplate and a SATA power cable for the TT Plus control hub/module. My cable management skills isn’t the best… but it’s the best I can do! Hahaha 😀
Installation of Radiator, Distroplate and Hard Tubing
We mounted the Pacific SR360 Radiator (Snow Edition) to the chassis, followed by 3 x Thermaltake CT120 EX ARGB cooling fans. No issues here.
The Pacific DP100-D5 Plus Distro-Plate with Pump Combo also fitted nicely on the side of the chassis (next to the motherboard tray).
Next, we had to do some hard tube bending. This 90 degree hard tube is then fitted to run from the radiator to the distroplate. See below.
For extra cooling we also used another 3 x Thermaltake CT140 ARGB fans (reverse flow)… on the bottom of the chassis to allow airflow to come up through the chassis. We also added 2 more Thermaltake CT140 ARGB fans (normal flow) on the top of the chassis for exhaust airflow.
Installing the CPU Waterblock with Soft Tubing
For the CPU waterblock, we used the Pacific MX2 Ultra which features a LCD display. We mounted the waterblock on to the Gigabyte Z890 AORUS Elite X ICE Motherboard and then proceeded to mount the soft tubing on to the CPU waterblock with the correct fittings.
