The Finish Item
Thermaltake have been our long time partner and sponsor, ever sinceIe started building PCs when I was only teenager (all those years ago :D). They’ve always delivered when it matters the most. And it’s always a pleasure when you’re given the chance to build a PC Project using their extensive range of products including chassis, power supplies, fans, and watercooling components. We’ve built many PC projects over the years, including ….
When they approached me to build a custom loop for 2024, I was a little hesitant since I haven’t built a PC Project with custom watercooling in a while (previous PC build with custom watercooling was back in 2019). But you know what they say … never miss an opportunity, because you’ll never know when thew next one will come by. So in the end I decided to take the plunge and of course, I had to refresh and top-up my hard tube bending skills … hahaha!
As you can see from the photos, I only partially used hard tubing in our PC build. Just one hard tube with a 90 degree bend from the radiator to the distroplate. For the rest of the loop, we used soft tubing from the distroplate -> CPU waterblock -> radiator. And there’s a reason for this kind of setup. I want to option and flexibility to upgrade the motherboard if I need to. If I used hard tubes for the CPU waterblock, then I’m unable to do this.
And no … I did not add a GPU waterblock to the Radeon RX 7900 XT. I’m not a big fan of watercooling the graphics card. Simple reason … I want to be able to upgrade my graphics card and may be later use the one I have now on another system.
I’m really happy with how the PC build turned out. Building a PC with custom watercooling is super fun, exciting and most of all extremely rewarding. It really brings back some sweet memories, plus I’m glad I haven’t lost some of that custom loop building skills 😉
We hope you enjoyed our Project Aqua Hydrangea … and we thank you for joining us in our journey from start to finish. And of course … a BIG thank you to our main sponsors Thermaltake, as well as Gigabyte, Patriot Viper Gaming and ASRock. See you all in our next PC project build in 2025!
