ORICO Backuper - The Easy Way to Backup Your Phone

Today we will take a quick look at the ORICO Backuper. It’s a portable auto-backup device (hard drive not included) designed for mobile phone, tablets, laptops and PCs. So basically it’s a 2.5-inch hard drive enclosure that supports both the traditional hard drives and newer SATA SSDs, and come with USB 3.0 support, both the Type-A and Type-C connectors.

What’s interesting about this product is that it works with a backup software called iStore Pro, which you can download from the Apple Appstore if you own an iPhone, or if you have an Android phone you can check out Google’s Play Store.

For PC and laptop owners, there’s no software support … just use it an external hard drive.

Installation

iStore Pro App

You can download the iStore Pro app from Apple’s Appstore or Google Play Store. It’s free and it will allow you to backup all the data from the phone to the ORICO Backuper, including photos and contacts.

Connecting the cables

For phone backup … in order to get the drive powered up, you’ll need a power bank connected to the ORICO Backuper. See the photo below.

If you’re using it on the PC, you only need to connect one USB cable to it … use either the familiar Type-A or the newer Type-C data cable.

Verdict and Conclusion

I’m not really the type of person that would go out of my way to get something like this. But after a recent disaster with my mobile phone, I lost all my photos which I wasn’t able to recover 🙁 Now I realize how a device like the ORICO Backuper would have helped me recover all my lost photos. I have a load of spare 2.5-inch hard drives laying around in the office… and I thought to myself, jez I can put these to good use!

It’s not just about backing up my photos … I take a lot of photos which I then use for videos, reviews and written content. Having an external storage device (with all my backed-up photos and videos from my mobile phone), which I can then plug straight into my PC or laptop for immediate editing is extremely useful.

The iStore Pro App is pretty easy to use and it’s FREE. The data transfer speed is also very nippy and fast, so no complaints here. The only thing is that you’ll need to carry a power bank with you if you want to use the ORICO Backuper on the go.

All-in-all, I’m very pleased with the product. It does what it supposed to do for backing up data from your mobile phone, and as a bonus I can use it as a standard external hard drive (hard drive not included) for my laptop or PC.
