Roku’s first ever channel, simply called the Roku Channel, has launched across the company’s range of devices. Users can receive free movies and TV shows from the channel, which has just now completed its rollout. All Roku units released after June 2011 work with it.
To fill in its selection, Roku is licensing content from studios like Lionsgate, Paramount, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. It’s also featuring content from other channel publishers, including American Classics, FilmRise, and Nosey.
Unlike paid services, the Roku Channel primarily features older content. It won’t be the place to look for new releases.
