The unofficial announcement by Elon Musk about Tesla readying to produce their Semi’s have sky-rocketed their stock past the USD $1,00 mark.
Taken from Engadget … Elon Musk has been touting the Tesla Semi, an electric big-rig meant for hauling cargo. Now, in an email to staff, Musk said it’s time to prepare the Tesla Semi for “volume production.”
“It’s time to go all out and bring the Tesla Semi to volume production. It’s been in limited production so far, which has allowed us to improve many aspects of the design,” Musk said in the memo seen by CNBC.
According to the email, battery and powertrain production will take place at the Tesla Gigafactory in Nevada. Other work will most likely take place in other states, Musk said. Though, he didn’t reveal which states or when production will ramp up.
Earlier this year, Tesla said the Semi would arrive in 2021, not 2019 as originally planned. Ramping up production now could fit into that timeline.
