Ever since the current iteration of GoPro’s action camera – GoPro Hero 4 – was launched in September 2014, many are wondering when the next GoPro action camera will come out will. Fortunately for fans, GoPro Hero 5 is said to be available in October.
Although GoPro is mum about the official release details surrounding GoPro Hero 5, that didn’t stop fans from speculating that the next action camera will be released this year to recover with the sales and stocks decline the company is experiencing, specially that the much anticipated GoPro Karma Drone is also delayed.
Even if the company is tight-lipped with the GoPro Hero 5’s release date, GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman hinted that their next action camera will be the most impressive device the company will release. He also said that GoPro Hero 5 will be the most convenient and connected action camera GoPro ever created.
It is said that the GoPro Hero 5 will top the resolution capabilities of GoPro Hero 4, as it will be able to shoot 8K videos at 60 frame rate per second. Rumors has it that the upcoming action camera will be able to shoot 3D videos because of its dual-lens feature.
Other rumored specs surrounding Hero 5 include having 2,800mAh battery capacity and the ability to take videos in as deep as 60 meters. In addition, Hero 5 is rumored to be available in two processors – the Snapdragon 800 chip from Qualcomm and the A10 chipset.
In terms of GoPro Hero 5 price, speculations suggest that the action camera will be priced somewhere within $450-$550 range.
