I’ve never been able to get into Assassin’s Creed games but i’m excited for this one.
Taken from VG247…. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has adopted one of Mortal Kombat’s most defining features.
You may have noticed that in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s recent gameplay reveal, there was a brief moment where a Hidden Blade attack resulted in an X-Ray shot showing the target’s bones being fractured as the blade cuts through.
Most just assumed that was a cool moment Ubisoft wanted to throw in the trailer, you know, to enhance the impact of the attack. But that’s not actually the case; these Mortal Kombat-like cinematic cuts are actually in the game.
Valhalla game director Benoit Richer was asked to clarify this point on Twitter, to which he replied that the move is player-triggered, and happens during normal gameplay.
This is particularly new for the series, so I am surprised Ubisoft didn’t dedicate any time to talking about it on the gameplay demo that followed Ubisoft Forward. It makes sense, though, given Valhalla’s emphasis on gore and decapitation in combat. It’ll be interesting to see if Ubisoft allows players to turn those off.
Commenting on Richer’s revelation, some are already asking for this, whether because of their sensitivity to violent imagery, or because they think it’s going to get old dozens of hours in.
