With technology now becoming more and more capable of learning and intelligence beyond our wildest imaginations this game created by Quantic Dream has real relevance in our world today and it causes you to think of what it could be like in the very near future.
You will Play as 2 main characters the first being ‘Kara’ who is an android with consciousness and human emotions, she escaped the factory she was created in only to find herself in Detroit where androids are made with no consciousness and used as tools, the second character is Connor, he was created with advanced skills and features and is given to the Detroit Police Department where he will be faced with some big and important decisions some of which you will have to face with him. It has a very imaginative storyline with many possible outcomes to some situations which will depend on the kind of actions you take, and I suppose the kind of person you are will translate the story to be more relevant to you.
It has made me think about a story I read recently on fossbytes.com the story was by Adarsh Verma, it tells of a programmer who lost her best friend and missed him to the point that she taught the Ai she had created to be a representation of her friend, she used the text messages that were sent between them to build the profile of the A.I to be like her lost friend, this was an emotional read and also a reality Eye-opener to the complexity and capability of the Ai in the story and around the world.
I’ve always been a big SyFy fan, I’ve seen all the big movies such as A.I, iRobot and Bicentennial Man (great credit to the late Robin Williams) and read a lot lately around the progression of the science, but it still seem that to me that this game and the movies mentioned above paint a true realization that the A.I. will only be what the creator in visions for it at least at first, with the ability to learn the A.I could choose to be what it deems right, it is amazing to think about that struggle, it is what humans have faced since the beginning, my point is will A.I. be able to be all good and not let evil in, in my opinion we have made A.I. to be like us to the point that when learning and individuality takes over we will not be able to control what it learns or how it will determine how to process the knowledge it acquires.
It is truly exciting times as it emerges and I would recommend giving this game a serious look not for any truth into how artificial intelligence is going to emerge or facts about what the future will be like because honestly we will never really understand it until it happens, I recommend playing this because it can drive your imagination and get you thinking and this is what defines us as a species the ability to imagine, think and realize.
it may even enable you to think and react differently in certain situations, I really enjoyed the trailer and reading about this game and it has tempted me to ask Santa for a PS4 in my stocking this year.
