Ever since March’s Nintendo Direct, Dragon Quest and RPG fans in general have been eagerly awaiting news of Dragon Quest VII‘s western release date. Today, a new trailer ahs surfaced that gives us the answer and even the game’s full title for the 3DS release. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will launch on 3DS systems this September 16. The 3DS release comes after the lackluster western response to the idea of Dragon Quest VII launching on mobile devices last year.
Dragon Quest VII takes the original PlayStation release and gives it completely rebuilt visuals and a new retelling of the story. Whether this will be your first time playing Dragon Quest VII or your fiftieth, the 3DS release will be something new that you haven’t experienced before. Prepare to travel to the past to save the present from the demon king, making use of more than 30 different vocations to do so. Dragon Quest VII will feature its iconic turn-based combat, with characters and monsters alike designed by Dragon Ball‘s Akira Toriyama.
The 3DS StreetPass feature is also being integrated in Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Dragon Quest VII players will be able to send and receive traveler’s tablets through StreetPass that will unlock new dungeons that weren’t in the original PlayStation version. These new dungeons will have rare monsters and unique equipment for you to slay and loot as you progress your way through the hundred hour long RPG. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past will launch on 3DS systems in the west on September 16.
