The future of Mass Effect is currently in limbo due to the disappointing performance of Andromeda. According to Kotaku, publisher EA has placed the series “on ice” for the time being. That doesn’t mean a new title will never be released, but a new game isn’t currently in development.
With this shift comes a change in the way BioWare Montreal will be operating. The developer is now going to function as a support studio to help out with the company’s new IP, known as Dylan.
Many employees moved to EA Motive to help with Star Wars Battlefront 2, so none of these changes have led to notable layoffs.
