iPhone users have been enjoying Super Mario Run for several month now, but Android users will be able to get in on the fun. Nintendo has finally revealed that its iconic character’s mobile debut will launch on Android as version 2.0.0 on Thursday, March 23rd. First revealed at Apple’s iPhone 7 event back in September, Super Mario Run has been exclusive to iOS since its release in December, with Nintendo promising it would come to Android in the months to follow.
Alongside the Android release, the iPhone version of the game will be updated to version 2.0.0 on the same day, with new playable characters and the addition of stage 1-4 to the free demo portion. Just like on iOS, Android users can download Super Mario Run for free, but will be limited to a small portion of the game. A single $9.99 in-app purchase will make all the content available, however.

As an endless runner-style mobile game, Super Mario Run has players controlling the iconic player as he dashes across 2D levels. A single tap is used to make Mario jump, allowing him to collect coins and reach secret areas before time runs out.
Nintendo points out that users can pre-register for the game on the Google Play Store, and will receive a notification when it’s available in their region. Just make sure to stay away from third-party sources offering a direct APK download before the 23rd, as it’s likely just malware.
