I don’t usually write on freebies, but I just had to cover this one, since The Darkness II is one of those hidden gems that I think everyone should get to experience at least once (preferably more). Humble Bundle has been having a free game party of sorts in the last few months, offering games in all directions, and some of those have been actual pearls. The Darkness II is one such, for players who want a story-driven experience. You don’t just have to take my word for it – the game currently stands with a “Very Positive” rating on Steam. But yes, do take my word for it – this is a shooter (and more than that) with heart, and a story filled with heart-wrenching moments and interesting psychological outmaneuvers. Oh the asylum… If only we ever got the planned sequel…
