Xbox Series S Officially Revealed

I guess Microsoft finally caved in after all the leaks. I have to say the price is quite reasonable.

Taken from VG247… The price, look and design of Xbox Series S have been officially confirmed following leaks.

As expected, Microsoft has made it official. The company confirmed this morning that Xbox Series S is indeed priced $300/£250/€300, and that it delivers “next-gen performance” in the “smallest” Xbox form factor. More details, it promises, will be revealed soon.

The official shot doesn’t reveal anything new, but it does confirm the lack of a disc drive.

For those unfamiliar, Xbox Series S is the official name of Lockhart, a smaller, less powerful sibling to Series X. Reports indicate it’s a 4-teraflop machine that uses the same CPU as in Series X, paired with a less powerful GPU and less RAM. It’s said to be designed for 1080p and 1440p gaming, whereas Series X can deliver 4K.

You can read the original story below.

Original story: Earlier this morning, an image reportedly showing our first look at Microsoft’s second next-gen console, Xbox Series S, was leaked by Thurrot. On top of showing the console’s more traditional, horizontal design, it also reveals a $300 price.

The low-resolution screen-grab appears to have been taken from an official video, but the how and why are not exactly clear. Twitter user _h0x0d_ posted a clip of what seems to be the same video, showing a 3D render of the console and how it compares in size to Xbox Series X.

The leaked, $300 price was corroborated by Windows Central‘s own sources. The site further states that the console, codenamed Lockhart, will be available on $25 monthly payments through Xbox All Access.

Windows Central also says Xbox Series X is priced $500, with an option for $35 monthly payments through Xbox All Access. In both cases, Live Gold and Game Pass are included in the monthly plan.

It’s worth keeping in mind that only the price of the Xbox Series S appears in the leaked image. Both consoles, according to the report, will launch November 10, which is slightly later than what recent reports suggested.
