Launching under Gigabytes Aorus lineup the x9 gaming Laptop features an unlocked 7th gen Intel i7 7820HK, two GTX 1070s in SLI, up to 64GB of 2400mhz DDR4 RAM, an option between a 60hz 4K UHD IPS display or a 120hz 1440p WVA display, a fully mechanical keyboard, four front facing speakers with two built-in woofers and what Aorus calls their “Killer DoubleShot Pro” technology which allows the laptop to simultaneously use Ethernet for gaming task and the built-in wi-fi adapter for basic task like web traffic in order to limit ping while gaming.
Reviews have stated that it is one of the thinnest SLI laptops around coming in at 1.18 inches at its thickest point.
Gaming performance is great in games and benchmarks that support SLI, the Aorus x9 scored 32238 for the GPU and 19534 overall on 3dMarks Firestrike benchmark and is able to run almost anything maxed out at 1440p and exceed 60fps. But the limited support of SLI are apparent in games like resident evil 6 where the scores remained similar when running on one GPU.
As expected all the features packed in this laptop won’t come cheap, starting at $3,199 for the 1440p model with a 256GB NVMe and going up to $3,694 for the 4k model with a 512GB NVMe drive this laptop is powerful but not for everyone.
