When you mix the words ‘laptop’ and ‘liquid cooling’, thoughts turn to huge beasts of a machine like the Asus GX700. Not only has Acer’s new Switch Alpha 12 combined the two, they’ve also done so in a hybrid laptop; a tablet you can use as a laptop, e.g. Microsoft Surface.
Powered by Intel’s sixth generation Skylake-based Core I processors, noisy laptop fans are a thin of the past with its “closed-loop liquid system,” which dissipates the heat as liquid floats through the system, using the heat of the coolant as it expands into gas to keep the entire system moving.
Understandably from its name, the Switch Alpha 12 has a 12-inch screen that has a display resolution of 2160 x 1440. It has a kickstand, much like the Surface Pro. A detachable keyboard will ship for free with the laptop. Packed with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB SSDs storage, and integrated Intel 520 graphics. It offers eight hours of battery life, and it weighs 900 grams, or 1.25 kilograms with the keyboard attachment.
The Switch Alpha 12 will be available in June starting at $599.
