Even though Acer’s Predator 17 was a very power gaming laptop, it still did not meet the requirements for VR, so to address this an updated version was announced by Acer; the Acer Predator 17X.
The Acer Predator 17X improves on its predecessor by offering the Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 graphics card that’s found in many gaming desktops, instead of a less powerful laptop-specific card. It’s got the same looks of the Predator 17 and the same 17.3-inch screen, with a new option to upgrade to a 4K display instead of the more standard 1920×1080 one. Customizable configurations mean you can go crazy and get up to an Intel Core i7-6820HK processor, 64GB of DDR4 RAM, and three SSDs in RAID 0.
It has a triple fan cooling system, and it supports overclocking. The Predator 17X weighs in at 4.5kg and has 3-hour battery life. It will launch in China first in May, and will reach Europe and North America in June. Pricing will start at USD$2,799.
