LOUISVILLE, Ky., — Jan. 20, 2015 — Three GE (NYSE: GE) brands—Café™, Profile™ and Monogram®—are releasing new induction cooktops in May 2015 as consumer acceptance of induction surges. The newest induction cooktops serve up groundbreaking new features: GE equipped the Café and Monogram brands with swipe-friendly controls that offer precise heat control, a sous vide accessory and all brands include a lightweight griddle GE created specifically for induction.
Since 2008, the number of induction cooktops sold in America has doubled and induction has grabbed an additional 10 percent of the electric cooktop market share. “This is the fastest growing segment in the cooktop market and is one of the primary reasons GE continues to invest and innovate in this category. As consumers become more accustomed to tablet and smartphone technology, incorporating these features is a natural evolution,” says Paul Bristow, GE product manager.
Intuitive to use and easy cleanup – Glide Touch Controls: Raise and lower heat using touch-and-swipe technology, touching around an arc, or using plus and minus signs to navigate. Interact with your range similar to your smartphone or tablet. Messy cook? GE’s new knob-free controls offer another easy surface to wipe down. No crevices for spills and crumbs to hide.
No muscles needed – Stainless steel clad griddle: Forget hefting a heavy griddle onto a seemingly delicate surface. GE’s integrated griddle is lightweight and seamlessly fits the Café and Monogram cooktops.
Customize settings – From timers to locks: Adjust the cooktop settings to suit your needs. Switch from a standard countdown timer to a multi-timer that allows each individual burner to be timed separately, or automatically lock controls when you turn off the burners.
Five-star dining – Sous vide: Serve restaurant-quality food with up-and-coming sous vide. GE is introducing the first sous vide accessory designed to work specifically with its induction cooktops. Sous vide monitors water temperature and communicates adjustments to the connected range and a smartphone or tablet to ensure food cooks perfectly without overcooking.
