Offering read speed of up to 13,000 MB/s. I can’t wait to see this year’s generational jump in performance. New platforms, new technologies … it’s call coming along 😀
Taken from Videocardz … Storage companies have expressed their willingness to jump into PCIe Gen5 architecture as quickly as possible, but even though Intel Alder Lake desktop platforms is here for more than 7 months, there is still no way to purchase a Gen5 storage.
Apacer and Zadak are the first to announce actual products. The AS2280F5 and TWSG5 are M.2 Gen5 x4 SSDs with pre-attached heatsinks. The company claims that they are Gen4 backwards-compatible, however to offer advertised 13,000 MB/s read speed and 12,000 MB/s write speed, Gen5 system is required. In this case this means AMD’s upcoming X670/B650 motherboards as well as existing Intel Z690 motherboard series.
The company did not confirm the capacities for its new SSDs. Furthermore, today’s announcement does not come with release date or pricing. Apacer only declared that both SSDs will become available by the end of this year.
