Intel Z890 and new Core Ultra (Arrow Lake CPUs) are coming soon with an excpected launch around October 10th. Intel’s new platform will use their new LGA1851 socket and will support DDR5, WiFi 7, Thunderbolt 4 and possibly 5GB LAN
Taken from Videocardz … In just about a week, Intel will finally disclose its Core Ultra 200 series for the next-generation desktop platform. This will be the first desktop generation from Intel carrying a new naming scheme, already known from mobile form factor. It will also be the first generation to use a new socket, known as LGA-1851.
The company, along with its partners, will reveal full details about the Z890 chipset, the first in the new generation of chipsets, which will power the new boards designed specifically for high-end gaming systems and unlocked Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake-S processors. Among these companies will be ASUS, which is currently preparing several motherboard designs that we can share today.
What users should expect from this generation includes improved DDR5 support (and lack of DDR4 support), new PCIe GPU and M.2 release mechanisms, faster networking (WiFi 7), and Thunderbolt 4, especially on Maximus Extreme.
Now officially, the Z890 disclosure is expected on October 10th with full release to follow two weeks later. Preliminary pricing data shows that ROG Maximus boards will likely cost more than the flagship Core Ultra 9 285K processor.
