NVIDIA’s lineup of Pascal GeForce 10 cards focuses the entire market segment, from $199 solutions up to $1200 US. AIBs have done a remarkable job with the new cards so far. But the race to offer the best custom model hasn’t ended yet. The Gigabyte lineup has several cards but enthusiasts look forward to their XTREME Gaming series for the best performance and overclockability. And hence arrives a new champion in Gigabyte’s lineup, the GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming WaterForce WB.
Gigabyte GTX 1080 XTREME Gaming WaterForce WB is a powerful card. This can be told just by looking at its design and build quality. The card features the Pascal GP104 core which is well known for breaking past 2 GHz when overclocked. The core features 2560 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR5X memory. This is more than enough to keep games well fed at high resolutions and good image quality.
The card is clocked at 1759 MHz base and 1898 MHz boost clock out of box. You can switch between the stock gaming and OC mode. The OC BIOS offers even faster clock speeds of 1784 MHz base and 1936 MHz boost. The card with its utterly ridiculous board design wouldn’t break a sweat while making this card boost beyond 2000 MHz.
Talking about the PCB itself, the card comes with a 12+2 phase design. These aren’t your standard components, Gigabyte has done a splendid job by fusing the same capacitors and chokes as the Titan X (NVIDIA’s flagship Pascal card). This is to ensure that the card is built top-notch. Power to this PCB is fed through dual 8-Pin connectors which deliver stable and clean current to the board.
Gigabyte’s Full Coverage Waterforce WB Block Looks Beautiful
To cool such a monstrosity, Gigabyte went with a full coverage waterblock. The waterblock is custom built and looks great as it comes with a pure copper design. The orange and brown accent looks really well and the thing should perform as well as it looks. The card takes two slots inside your case and the block features RGB LEDs which can be adjusted through Gigabyte’s bundled app.
The card has three DP 1.4a, a single HDMI 2.0 and a single DVI connector on the back. Gigabyte also adds two additional, HDMI 2.0 connectors on the front of the PCB that can be internally routed for HMD connectors.
To top it all off, Gigabyte has even added a custom backplate that goes really well with the design aesthetics of the card. Lastly, the price, we can expect this enthusiast grade card to retail anywhere around the 800 USD mark. The pricing sure sounds steep but you are getting a lot of horse power in an incredible package.
