JIDE TECHNOLOGY has announced the latest device powered by its Remix OS desktop Android variant.
The Remix OS AIO is a 24in all-in-one machine built in association with display manufacturer AOC, the first device built as an official collaboration with Jide.
The new AIO is the company’s first foray into business computing, offering Android in a form factor ideal for business users and still offering the desktop elements such as task bar, start menu and mouse/keyboard control.
Jeremy Chau, co-founder of Jide, said: “This partnership shows off the potential of Android PCs by putting Remix OS into another form factor. In fact, it was based on interest from enterprises that encouraged us to develop this device with AOC.
“Again, our community of users have been spreading our story and, again, we advance Android PCs because of their support.”
The device is being released initially in China with an international rollout based on demand, so users are being encouraged to tell Jide where to roll out first.
Specs-wise, you can expect an Amlogic quad-core ARM Cortex A53 chipset running at 2GHz. The GPU will be a five-core ARM Mali 450 running at 750MHz. There’s 2GB of RAM and storage of 16GB to 64GB, doubtless expandable via USB. Missing from the original announcement was the screen resolution, but we have confirmed with our friends at Jide that it is full 1080p, though sadly not 4K this time.
Remember, though, that Remix OS has a habit of smashing benchmarks on computers it inhabits compared with most operating systems, so this should be no slouch.
Images suggest four USB ports, an Ethernet port, two HDMI inputs and two audio jacks. There are stereo speakers and a series of buttons that do stuff. We’re getting our hands on one in two weeks’ time and will be able to tell you then.
In the meantime, there is a big gap in the story. We’ve not been given a price, but, given that Remix OS is designed as a cheaper alternative to Windows, we reckon you can expect it to be fairly spectacular.
