Coolpad is releasing its first unlocked smartphone in the U.S. market, marking their official entry into the fast growing open market space. Their first open market smartphone, Coolpad Conjr, features a 5″ IPS 2.5D HD display, 13MP + 8MP camera, 3GB RAM and multi-finger unlock, is launching with the stunning price point of $179.99 for a premium class smartphone. The unlocked conjr will work on T-Mobile, AT&T, or any of their MVNO partners.
Coolpad Americas CEO Brandy Kang believes this is the perfect time to enter the open market. According to Strategy Analytics report, “Unlocked smartphones made up 9% of total smartphone volumes in the US in 2015, significantly up from 4% one year ago. Unlocked smartphones are the fastest-growing segment in the US smartphone market today.” With carrier competition becoming increasingly intense, purchasing phones without a contract have hit the main stream. Both online retailers and offline brick-and-mortal stores are embracing the potential of the unlocked segment and continue to introduce new brands through their channels.
Over the past 4 years, Coolpad has established itself in the carrier market with strong product quality and clear value position. Announcing the Coolpad Conjr during CES, the brand is looking forward to gaining more attention and brand advocacy from the younger generation millennials. Coolpad believes the conjr will be a hit with millennials with its price defying premium design; the 8MP front selfie camera with flash and two other interesting built-in functions that are sure to capture a millennial’s attention, age recognition and beauty mode, and the front flash to lend a hand in those challenging night selfie dilemmas.
“We are excited to launch Coolpad Conjr in the US.” stated Garth Benner, VP of Open Market. “This is only a start. We are committed to bringing the very best technologies to Coolpad phones. We are grateful for the opportunity U.S. consumers are giving us to wow them with diversity of smartphones that comes with better design, better user experience, and premium value at a stunning price point that truly makes the word premium mean something. Coolpad’s carrier business will work hand in hand with the unlocked market side of the business to foster healthy growth for all.”
Preorders for the Coolpad Conjr on Amazon.com and Newegg.com will begin on January 5, 2017. MSRP will begin at $179.99.
