HTC is today formally announcing the 10, its flagship smartphone for 2016. The HTC 10 has everything you might expect from a flagship Android phone in 2016. There’s a 5.2-inch, quad HD Super LCD 5 display and the screen is covered in Gorilla Glass with curved edges that blend into the phone’s metal frame. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM that, the HTC 10 comes in a 32Gb and 64Gb versions, with a microSD card slot that will take up to 2Tb.
The battery has a capacity of 3000mAh, and uses Quick Charge 3.0 tech via a USB-C connector. Keeping with previous HTC designs, the HTC 10 has an all-aluminum design, with a fingerprint sensor at the bottom of the screen, flacked by 2 capacitive buttons for back and recent apps, unlike previous versions from HTC which used on-screen buttons.
Camera-wise, you won’t be disappointed. The HTC 10’s rear camera has a 12MP sensor with optical stabilization and a f/1.8 lens, with a dual-LED flash. The camera is capable of capturing 4K video with a 24-bit high resolution audio. The front camera also has optical stabilization with a 5MP sensor and f/1,8 wide-angle lens. The new BoomSound Hi-Fi feature has a woofer in the bottom of the phone and a tweeter up top, so high and low frequencies come from above and below.
HTC has stripped down its Android-based OS, and now more semblance to that of Google’s, much like a Nexus.
The HTC 10 will start shipping next month for USD$699. The US will get to pick from black and silver, whilst globally you will see a gold version as well. Japan gets all the choices available and a special red version.
