Diamond Multimedia GC2000 Game Caster Review

Performance and Software

I really enjoyed testing out the GC2000 from Diamond Multimedia! you are able to use the GC2000 with all the major consoles, even some of the older versions using the analog input port. If your video card does not already have game capturing capabilities , don’t fret, this game capture is PC compatible. The GC2000 is fairly easy to use too! This device comes in three different modes, PC mode, Standalone mode, and streaming mode. Each mode comes with live voice commentary. I will mainly go into detail using the PC mode, while also showing you bits and pieces of the rest. For PC mode you will need to use your computer and download the software.

Diamond Multimedia provides the USB cord to connect to your PC. Once you are connected, pop in the software disk that is provided from Diamond Multimedia.  The latest drivers download along with the software. Once all of that is downloaded, you are able to use your PC to record gameplay from any console or just straight from your PC. You are able to stream to Twitch, Ustream, or any other live gameplay streaming sites. I will go into detail in a short video below explaining the software and how easy this device is to use in PC mode.

Standalone mode is for recording and saving  your gameplay to a SD card. In standalone mode, there is no need for the GC2000 to be near the PC to record your gameplay. Most game captures device needs to be connected to the PC to record game play. With standalone mode, you only need to be connected to the console you are wanting to record off of.  This allows the user more freedom. Especially if your PC desk is already as cluttered as mine. Standalone mode is easy to use. Just swithch over to standalone mode using the switch on the side of the GC2000 and hit the quick click button on top to start recording. Basically, set it and forget it!

In streaming mode, you are able to stream live to sites such as Twitch using an Ethernet cord. There is no need to have the GC2000 connected to the PC to stream your gameplay live. You are able to stream directly to Twitch, Ustream, smartphone, or your tablets. Diamond Multimedia also provides a place for the user to login into other uncommon stream sites. I don’t really do much live streaming, therefore I don’t go into much detail in the video below. However, I do show you the steps to start streaming live. As stated earlier, all modes do allow for live commentary!
