Software, Part II
Tapping the “cog” icon from the previous screen will take you to the configuration screen in which you can set a total timer and a reminder timer. Tapping the question mark icon at the bottom right of this screen will take you to an information screen where the software version is displayed as well as some more cautionary notes.
Tapping the timer buttons will take you to the Set Time screen in which you can adjust the timers for the alarm and activate alarm vibration functions. The alarm will activate the phone vibration function in pulses at the preset reminder and timer intervals to let the user know when their presentation time has expired or is about to expire, another thoughtful feature indeed!
Tapping the “arrow” icon from the previous screen will take you to the gesture settings screen in which you can calibrate the gestures for controlling your presentation via the Track Pad.
Tapping the “arrow” icon from the main screen will take you to the host connection screen. Here you can automatically or manually connect to the a computer running the host software that we will take a look at in a few moments. Simply input the IP address of the host computer and viola!
In order to use the remote function of the iPin app, host software must be downloaded from iPin’s website and then installed to your host computer. The software must then be initiated before connecting with your iPhone.
Now that we have connected to our host computer the following screen will minimize and run in the background. We now have full mouse control over our presentation software with our iPhone!
Alright, now that we have covered the software from top to bottom, let me say a few words on how well everything works and performs together.
Performance
Operating the iPin Laser is simply a breeze. No lag was experienced when pressing the laser activating button. The range is exceptional due to the powerful laser and not hindered at all due to the small stature of the iPin Laser. The software control of a host computer works really well and you still have all of your basic mouse click functions! I experienced hardly any noticeable increase in battery use while using the iPin Laser. I sense that iPin put a lot of thought into the design of the product as well as the software. Kudos to all of the effort put into this product.
And as with all reviews they must come to an end almost as soon as they began. Let us move on to the conclusion of this review.
