A Closer Look
The chassis is constructed with aluminum and ABS plastic with a wooden accent piece on the front. This unit locks with the included keys.
Hard drive installation is as easy as opening the door and sliding the drive in. It has a nice solid feel and seats firmly once the door is closed and latched. The metal strip pictured below keeps the drive from wearing down the door, and it also keeps the drive firmly in place.
The back of the cage has 1 power port, 1 SATA port, a disk drive LED on/off switch, a 2-pin 12v power output (for use with an external fan) and cooling vents.
Below we get a closer look at the internal workings of the cage. You’ll notice a small arm above the SATA and power ports. This arm is what ejects the hard drive when the door is opened.
Installing the hot-swap cage in a PC (or any suitable rackmount solution) is as easy as any other full-sized 5.25″ drive. Simply slide it in, secure it, plug it in and you’re done.
