Specifications and Features
Patriot Viper flash drive is small and light. It’s also made of plastic and rubber elements so should resist dropping on the floor. We haven’t been checking how much it can stand but I guess it was already tested during the design process.
As I already mentioned Viper USB 3.1 flash drives are available in capacities of 64, 128 and 256GB what should meet everyone’s needs.
On the Patriot’s website you can see additional info: “The terms USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.0 are synonymous”. It’s actually true. Since renewing USB naming USB 3.1 Gen 1 replaced USB 3.0 while maximum theoretical bandwidth is the same. Still most USB 3.0 devices couldn’t reach maximum bandwidth while newer products are usually faster.
Closer Look
Patriot Viper 64GB USB 3.1 flash drive has arrived in a retail package which is quite typical for this type of products. Photo you can see below.
On the package is short description and we clearly see that Patriot focused mainly on read speed. I already know why it’s pointed out and you will find out a bit later.
The flash drive is compatible with probably all computers with USB port. It’s backward compatible with earlier USB revisions but of course if you use older ports then it will run slower. Optimal performance can be achieved only on USB 3.0/3.1 ports.
Patriot Viper flash drive is quite small and is kept in black and red colors. It’s probably the most popular color scheme for gaming hardware. Viper is actually gaming line of products so it perfectly fits.
On the flash drive there is also a Viper logo which gives additional aggressive looks. Overall capless design is simple but functional.
